Design project specification: Magazine typography
Project overview
Design the typography for this magazine site’s UI.
The Magazine is the magazine of your choice. (Yes, I’m giving you more creative control this time around!) The design is an article in the magazine that features areas for imagery. The text is Lorem Ipsum so you can imagine this article is about whatever you want.
We will continue to work on this magazine article design in future units, so
try to focus only on the typography. You’ll have the opportunity to make other design decisions later.
Design requirements
Edit the existing typographies in the Assets panel to create an appropriate look and feel that enhances the readability of the article. You can change the font family, font size, font weight and style, line height, letter spacing, text case and text alignment.
You may change the Magazine Title to something that inspires your typography choices. Is this a fashion magazine? An interior design magazine? A corporate lifestyle magazine? You choose, and make your typography decisions accordingly.
Technical specifications
Assets:
All text must use a typography in the Assets panel to make design collaboration and the development process easier.
Title:
You can change the magazine title to something different from “The Magazine.” (But you don’t have to… I also find naming things very hard!)
Content:
All other content must remain unchanged in your final design.
Colors, icons, and layout:
All the existing colors, icons, and layout must stay the same for your final design. The Flex and Grid layouts should be flexible enough to accommodate most text changes without breaking the design, but feel free to make small changes if necessary.
(Making no changes means you’ll be able to continue working on this file in later units, but I’m not going to be annoyed with you if you want to keep experimenting!)
Design approach:
You can create new typographies if necessary.
Decide your theme for the magazine, and then choose your typography to fit the theme. Is there a type of magazine you like to read? Is there a magazine you wished existed? Or is there a magazine with a strong visual point of view that you want to work with?
