Hello my friends and welcome to UI Design with Penpot. In this free course, I'll teach you core skills and practical techniques for user interface design, starting with simple graphics and working our way through to complex patterns and design systems. For this course, we'll use Penpot. It's a web-based, open source design tool that bridges the gap between design and development.
You can sit back, watch, and listen if you like, but you'll get the most out of this course by working alongside me. This course is a series of hands-on videos in which I show you how I do UI design with Penpot. I've also included plenty of assignments for you to put what you are learning into practice and build a portfolio to show the tools and techniques you've learned.
There are also lots of tips and tricks to help you make the most of Penpot and become the go-to Penpot experts on your team. I'm Laura Kalbag. I've been a UI and UX designer and a developer in the tech industry for 15 years. Yes, I went to art school and studied design, but I promise I'm only just a little bit pretentious.
I've had small businesses and large enterprises as clients, as well as working for startups in open source and running a not-for-profit organization. And of course, I work with Penpot on designer and developer education. You might also know me from my book, Accessibility for Everyone, and the talks I've given across the world.
I got into the web because I love the spirit of sharing what we learn and growing together as a community. That's why I'm excited to share what I've learned about design as a practice over the last 15 years, as well as everything I know about Penpot.
