Let's talk the design process. UI design processes can vary enormously. In an ideal world, we might start out with clear requirements or existing content, use those to produce early stage designs, get them improved, then iterate on higher fidelity mockups. Design schools and courses teach all kinds of ideal design processes and creative thinking.

But we don't live in an ideal world. Often requirements are unclear. Content isn't ready. The client or the boss wants you to produce a mockup for tomorrow.

The most important design process is the one you establish for yourself. What do you need to accomplish the design task to the best of your ability? What's the minimum you could get away with? What would help you do your best work? How can you get what you need from your collaborators? What do they need from you so they can do their work?
Asking these questions is far more valuable than checking off some list that copies everybody else's design process.
